Northwestern Polytechnic University and Asian American Donor Program (AADP), Asian American Donor Program (AADP), partnered on 12/7/17 for a very successful donor drive. Students in the capstone class that had their competition that evening participated in the drive along with some alumni and staff. Ms. Elaine Ho from AADP gave a short presentation about the program and why ethnicity is very important in stem cell/bone marrow donation. Statistically, Asian Americans only contribute to the national registry at the rate of 6% or less compared to Caucasian populations contribute at the rate of 61% or more. She also shared the story of Katy who is a multiracial little girl needing bone marrow. If you would like to help Katy or other patients in need, learn more at www.aadp.org.
We are pleased to have hosted this event and will continue our partnership with the organization in the coming trimesters.
